Riyadh Metro Station-Qasr Al Hokom
Immersive Light Architecture in Motion
Year: 2025
LocationRiyadh, Saudi Arabia
Client / SectorPublic Infrastructure / Transportation
Qasr Al Hokm Metro Station in Riyadh offers a bold new paradigm for transit architecture—where light becomes as integral as structure. The design integrates outdoor and indoor lighting through seamless connectivity, enriching the passenger journey from plaza to platform. A first-tier technological backbone supports media servers and dynamic software, enabling generative content that mirrors natural sky transitions—dawn, dusk, overcast—immersively woven into the environment. Over 2,000 custom-designed fixtures were deployed to realize this vision, each tailored to the station’s geometry and lighting narrative. As users move through the space, lighting shifts subtly to guide, calm, and animate. Outdoor façade elements, the reflecting canopy, glazed tunnels, and concourse volumes are unified through a measured transition in illumination. Light screens, digital surfaces, and organic ambient layers respond to time and movement, enhancing spatial coherence and wayfinding. The overall effect is one of harmony and fluidity: architectural presence grounded in technology, creating an environment that feels alive, contextual, and forward-looking. This project exemplifies how advanced lighting integration can transform transit into a place of delight, coherence, and expressive identity.
