Bofia Restaurant, situated in Riyadh and conceived by AZAZ Architects with lighting by Light Func, reimagines the traditional Saudi “bofia” canteen with a striking contemporary identity. The design centers around a suspended, hollow tubular lighting element that floats overhead like an illuminated cloud, seamlessly integrating form and function. This custom lighting piece is engineered to shift color and intensity, adapting to different ambiances from day to night. It provides both identity and spatial fill—becoming a visual signature while casting luminous warmth throughout the dining areas. The light is carefully calibrated to not overwhelm the space; instead, it enhances the architectural geometry, tactile surfaces, and minimalist palette of whites, metallics, and soft finishes. The lighting installation “flows” into the interior, drawing visitors upward and linking ceiling, walls, and floor in a cohesive experience. Through smart programming, it can transition scenes to reflect different moods, enriching the storytelling of the space. The result is a dynamic, expressive environment where light becomes an active architectural element, elevating the restaurant beyond its traditional roots toward a refined and memorable destination.
