Located within the UNESCO World Heritage site of Hegra (AlUla), The Chedi Hegra Boutique Hotel breathes new life into the former Ottoman Empire train station, transforming it into a refined retreat where heritage and hospitality coexist in poetic balance. The project’s lighting design celebrates both the architectural legacy of the Ottoman era and the timeless beauty of the desert landscape that surrounds it.

Through the collaboration of design teams and lighting experts, illumination becomes a narrative tool—revealing craftsmanship, enhancing texture, and evoking memory. Each façade, archway, and corridor is softly articulated with light, ensuring that the historic stonework and wooden details retain their authenticity while gaining a renewed sense of vitality.

Interior lighting adopts a restrained, reverent approach, integrating warm color temperatures and concealed luminaires that honor the building’s original forms. Exterior lighting gently outlines the silhouettes of the station and surrounding landscape, connecting past and present through controlled brightness and atmospheric layering.
